As no right is absolute, the doctrine of “Fair Use” covered under the section 52 of the 1957 Act, is an exception to the rights of the author i.e., a person can reuse copyrighted content without the owner’s permission for comments, research, criticisms, news reporting, scholarship and teaching. India has adopted DRM (Digital right management) under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 via the 2012 amendment.. This restricts the use of copyrighted materials using technologies.
Youtube has become a leading platform for expressing one's view and creating content which can be viewed by billions of people. Copyright claims are mainly applicable to Music. Many music companies will have copyrights for their music. YouTubers cannot use those Music for their content in youtube channels. But, they can use such music for the purpose of comment, criticism, research etc., In case they use the music for the content then the remuneration of that particular video will be claimed by the Music company which has its copyright.
